FEMA Management & Reporting

During any type of storm event, whether it be a hurricane, an ice storm, etc., the Administration Division coordinates the documentation and damage assessments for Public Works. We work in conjunction with the Insurance and Risk Services Department to provide whatever documentation is necessary to allow for reimbursement for our efforts from the Federal Government as well as from the State of South Carolina.

Most of these storm events take multiple years of coordination to obtain that reimbursement for the City. The actual response from Public Works generally goes on long after the storm is over and most have returned to normalcy. The actual work can take up to 6 months to complete, with the documentation and meetings with FEMA and SCEMD continuing on for many years.
